To do this, companies often rely on digitization and have software solutions that help them collect and consolidate all the data, and then use it in their responses to the various reporting frameworks, including internal controls for reliability, verifiability and traceability.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first step is to analyze and organize all the information to be presented in a report.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Main reporting standards<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22200 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-300x3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"3\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-300x3.png 300w, https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-1024x9.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-768x7.png 768w, https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-1536x13.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-2048x18.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.laragon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/line-18x1.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The vast majority of companies rely on international standards to prepare their sustainability reports. Thus, the best known regulatory frameworks at the international level, which will be discussed in this article, are as follows:<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>GRI<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>CDP<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>TCFD<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>SASB<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>IIRC<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>CDSB<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While these are the most widely recognized international standards, there is a wide proliferation of sustainability reporting initiatives: there are currently close to 400 reporting initiatives in 64 countries.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This wide range of possibilities for publishing non-financial and sustainability information makes it complex for some companies to compare and study.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In this context, five major international benchmark organizations in sustainability reporting systems have recently <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.corresponsables.com\/actualidad\/ods16-modeloestandar-reportingcorporativo-contabilidadfinanciera-sostenibilidad-cdp-cdsb-gri-iirc-sasb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joined forces to create a single reporting standard<\/a><\/span>. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CDP, CDSB, GRI, IIRC and SASB have set themselves the challenge of creating a single standard reporting model to connect sustainability data with financial information. In this way, different regulatory frameworks would be brought together and their coexistence in reporting would be achieved.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The choice of reporting frameworks to be used is a decision that is also influenced, for example, by the demands of stakeholders or the information that may be of most relevance to investors. These are the main regulatory reporting standards or frameworks:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-0b99fc9 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0b99fc9\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-6a92366\" data-id=\"6a92366\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9862f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e9862f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>More focused on the investor, reporting based on CDP guidelines facilitates the collection of information on risks and opportunities related to climate change and, therefore, data related to emission reductions, corporate actions to mitigate climate change and reduce environmental impact, etc.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-1503bae\" data-id=\"1503bae\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-36535d9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"36535d9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal;margin: 16.0pt 0cm 4.0pt 0cm\"><span style=\"color: #000080\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif\">IIRC<span style=\"background-image: initial;background-position: initial;background-size: initial;background-attachment: initial\">(International Integrated Reporting Council<\/span>)<\/span><\/b><\/span><b><\/b><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif;color: #222222;background-image: initial;background-position: initial;background-size: initial;background-attachment: initial\">IIRC provides guidelines for the development of an integrated reporting model that includes information on the organization&#8217;s capitals (its resources and relationships) and explains how it interacts and impacts the environment and capitals with the objective of creating value in the short, medium and long term.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-6737ab8 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6737ab8\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-b2192b8\" data-id=\"b2192b8\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58048b0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"58048b0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>CDSB (Climate Disclosure Standards Board)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The standard offered by this organization is more focused on investors and the financial market. It is currently a benchmark and most companies and organizations use its guidelines as a basis for preparing their annual sustainability reports.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Reporting according to GRI standards is focused on stakeholders and offers the opportunity to evaluate the economic, environmental and social performance of organizations.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-53991d6\" data-id=\"53991d6\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e3b6bb7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e3b6bb7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #000080\"><strong>TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The TCFD guidelines are a benchmark for organizations wishing to assess and report on the actual and potential impacts of climate-related risks and opportunities on the organization&#8217;s business, strategy and financial planning. Each company or organization chooses the standard to guide its reporting based on its interests, needs and stakeholder expectations. In fact, many organizations advocate incorporating different regulatory frameworks in their annual reports.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000\">On the other hand, there are also some voices calling for the unification of standards in order to provide a single integrated information or reporting framework that connects aspects of financial disclosure with reporting on sustainability indicators, etc.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000\">As a result, companies have a responsibility to make their ESG disclosures increasingly transparent and of high quality.
